Does a Nest Require a C-Wire?

This is a hot question when it comes to Nests. In most cases, Nest thermostats can get enough power from your system’s heating and cooling wires and don’t require a C-wire. But in a small number of situations you may need to connect a C-wire to deliver consistent power to your thermostat. During installation, the app will tell you if you need to connect a C-wire.

Nest's Basic Controls

The Nest Learning Thermostat can be controlled manually or through the Nest app. Here is an overview of Nest's interface and manual controls. To adjust temperature, settings, or modes on Nest Learning, just turn the ring!

 

 

Controlling Nest with the App
