What is ConnectedSolutions?

ConnectedSolutions is the New Hampshire smart thermostat active demand response program, rewarding you by enrolling your eligible thermostat and reducing energy use during peak demand hours. NHSaves® utility partners, Eversource, Liberty and Unitil reward electric residential customers for allowing small, automatic temperature adjustments during peak energy events. These brief changes help ease the load on the electric grid while keeping you comfortable. On this page, you’ll learn how the program works, why it matters and how to enroll to start earning rewards.

Here’s What to Expect:

• You will be notified through either email, in app notification, or on your smart thermostat device
• Your thermostat may precool your home before an event
• During the event, your thermostat will adjust by up to 4°F higher than your usual setting
• There are usually between 10 and 20 adjustments per summer season, each lasting no more than three hours
• If needed, you can opt out of any event by manually adjusting your thermostat temperature

Your participation in ConnectedSolutions helps reduce the overall demand on the electric grid, especially on hot summer days, when electricity use is at its highest.

Who is Eligible?

ConnectedSolutions is available to all residential electric customers of NHSaves utility partners Eversource, Liberty and Unitil. To participate, you must:

• Have a central air conditioning system or central heat pump (either ducted or ductless)
• Connect your eligible smart thermostat to that system
• Window A/C units and standalone heating systems are ineligible 

Compatible Smart Thermostats and Where to Buy Them

Many leading thermostat brands are compatible with ConnectedSolutions, including:

• ecobee
• Google Nest
• Honeywell
• Copeland (Sensi)
• Lux
• Amazon Smart Thermostat
• Vivint/Alarm.com

You can purchase supported smart thermostats directly from the NHSaves Online Marketplace or at most major retailers (in-store or online). All customers of the NHSaves utility partners can buy a smart thermostat through the NHSaves Online Marketplace. However, only residential natural gas customers of Liberty and Unitil qualify for a thermostat rebate. Eversource customers are not eligible for a thermostat rebate but can still enroll their thermostat in the ConnectedSolutions program.

How to Enroll

Enrolling is quick and easy. If you already own an eligible smart thermostat, you may have received a prompt from your thermostat app to join the ConnectedSolutions program. You can also enroll directly by visiting your electric utility partner’s website:
